Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering

We are looking for an Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering to lead and manage our engineering org. You will be supporting 10-12 engineers across 5 teams (iOS, Android, Web, Backend, API) and reporting to the CEO.

As an Engineering Manager at SignEasy, you will:

  • Lead engineering team(s) to ship high-quality software on predictable schedule
  • Represent the team in planning and product meetings
  • Translate engineering team vision into action
  • Coordinate with Product Managers and other areas such as QA, Marketing, and Customer Support 

Responsibilities:

  • Involve in fostering a culture of happiness and satisfaction for our engineers
  • Plan out technical hiring requirements, improve our technical hiring processes and be the decision maker with regards to technical hires
  • Develop effective processes and guidelines for engineering management and practices
  • Eliminate roadblocks that occur in production processes
  • Set expectations, provide regular feedback & keep team members accountable
  • Develop a strong two-way feedback loop where you share organizational context and build a deep understanding of the engineer and how they work
  • Support engineers and help reach a resolution when challenges arise
  • Iterate and improve our engineering processes and technical culture
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding of engineers
  • Maintain a strong and up-to-date understanding of the challenges and opportunities your team is facing building and deploying software. Most of your time won’t be spent coding, but you should get your hands in the code regularly to maintain context

 Skills and Experience

  • Experience leading an engineering team, either as an Engineering Manager, or as a Senior Engineer/Technical Lead
  • 8-10 Years of experience in engineering with atleast 3 years as an engineering manager
  • Good understanding of Agile development practices
  • Familiarity with production operations of large-scale systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated experience in influencing peers and executives
  • Someone who has launched or worked at a successful startup or has worked at a global product company
  • Capable of leading globally distributed team members who might have different skill sets from your own
  • Deep understanding of how software is built and deployed. (Our web is transitioning from AngularJS to ReactJS, our iOS is migrating to SWIFT, Our Android is migrating to Kotlin and our backend has started using micro-service architecture)
  • Full stack engineering knowledge with any server-side language and JavaScript (on both client and server) would be helpful
  • Track record of holding a team accountable to goals and aligned with company-wide strategic priorities, while maintaining high levels of autonomy for your team
  • Ideally, you are someone who is present at industry events, you talk at conferences, you contribute towards open source projects, you are part of a global tech community
